AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala speaks openly: AKP came out behind in the poll it commissioned

While reactions continue regarding the access ban imposed on Instagram in Turkey, access to Roblox has also been blocked. Speaking about the bans, AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala stated that negotiations with Instagram are ongoing and that he believes a result will be reached shortly. Ala said, "We are not a government that desires to continue on our path by restricting these in an age where such a communication revolution exists." 

Making statements on the subject, Efkan Ala said the following:

"Turkey has sensitivities. We are proceeding here as the guarantor of freedoms. Someone is restricting freedoms. They are removing posts made by people. Turkey has taken a stance here because they are interfering with freedoms. Turkey is conducting these negotiations not to restrict freedoms, but to expand them. I ask for patience from our citizens. We are striving for our counterparts to take steps that take Turkey's sensitivities into account.

'WE ARE NOT A GOVERNMENT THAT DESIRES TO CONTINUE ON OUR PATH BY RESTRICTING THESE'

As for the other, it is aimed at protecting children. We must manage this area together. We are not a government that desires to continue on our path by restricting these in an age where such a communication revolution exists. I think a result will be reached in a short time."
