In response to questions regarding the lowest pension and the minimum wage, Akbaşoğlu stated that the government is working on policies aimed at increasing the welfare level and purchasing power of all segments of society, especially retirees.

Stating that the number of retirees in Turkey was approximately 7 million in 2002 and has risen to over 17 million today, Akbaşoğlu expressed that new support models for retirees are on the agenda.

Drawing attention to the previously announced Income Complementary Family-Based Support System within this scope, Akbaşoğlu noted that work is continuing under the coordination of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz with ministries, the Economic Coordination Council, the party administration, and the parliamentary group, and that the details will be shared with the public in the coming period.

MADE A 'GABAR' PROMISE TO RETIREES

Akbaşoğlu stated, "Thanks to the 80,000 barrels of daily oil and 710 billion cubic meters of natural gas in Gabar, the resources that would have gone abroad will remain in the country; this gain will be reflected as a prosperity difference to the entire society, especially to retirees."
