The Republican People's Party (CHP) has announced that it will not take part in the delegation to be sent to İmralı Island to meet with the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, as part of the second opening process initiated by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, which the government calls a "Terror-Free Turkey."
While the CHP's decision regarding İmralı remains a hot topic, reactions have begun to rise from the AKP front.
AKP Diyarbakır Deputy Suna Kepolu Ataman targeted the CHP in a speech she gave to Rûdaw, which is close to Barzani.
Claiming that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the architect of the process, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, acted courageously and did not make any electoral calculations, Ataman stated, "Regardless of who does not go, this commission will go to İmralı and sit down with Öcalan."
Continuing her speech with harsh criticisms directed at the CHP, Ataman argued that the party "has never stood by the Kurds" and claimed that this decision "shows the true face of the CHP."
According to the information in the report, Ataman increased the intensity of her criticisms, targeting the opposition party with the words, "The CHP executed our ancestors and has done nothing for the sake of the Kurdish people to this day. If they said anything, they said it for their own interests."
