Both figures confirmed the incident while announcing that Gürlek had resigned from his position prior to the investigation.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's documents regarding Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, who is conducting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation, have suddenly become the number one topic on the political agenda. Stating that Gürlek received a salary from ETI Maden A.Ş. while he was involved in the case, Özel had indicated that due to these developments, the investigation was not being conducted properly and the process had been politicized.

He received a monthly attendance fee of 26 thousand liras.

When he became Chief Public Prosecutor, his board membership ended.

He returned the extra payment deposited into his account for the transition period of October 2024.
