AKP's Güler to Özgür Özel: We see CHP officials wagging their fingers

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler provided information regarding the Draft Law on the Amendment of the Civil Servants Law and Certain Other Laws submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament.

Making evaluations on the agenda, Güler criticized the statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel following his visit to former Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer.

"ÖZEL'S STATEMENTS ARE VERY UNFORTUNATE"

Stating that Özel's remarks were very unfortunate, Güler said, “Turkey is a state of law. On a constitutional level, everyone is obliged to comply with laws, regulations, and other legislation. However, we have been seeing recently that the Republican People's Party Chairman, including deputies, deputy chairmen, or mayors, have transported themselves to another realm.

We see that they are acting as if no law applies to them, as if they are exempt from the laws, and as if the laws do not concern them.

The investigation being conducted regarding Esenyurt Municipality is a confidential investigation within the scope of Article 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code. When the indictment is prepared and accepted by the court, we will see what the allegations and suspicions are regarding the relevant Mayor, or what crimes they are implicated in. After that, the trial will begin," he said.

"WE SEE THAT THEY ARE BEING THREATENED BY CHP OFFICIALS"

Evaluating the investigation launched against Özel following his remarks directed at Akın Gürlek, Güler said, "We see that those performing public duties, especially chief prosecutors, prosecutors, and judges, are unfortunately being threatened by the relevant Republican People's Party officials in recent times.

We see that they are practically wagging their fingers at them. Article 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey states that; judicial proceedings on behalf of the Turkish nation are carried out by independent and impartial courts.

Therefore, within the scope of the tenth article of our constitution, no group, no political formation, no person, no association, foundation, or political party—neither their managers nor their members—can escape the laws. Everyone is equal before the law. Whoever commits a crime, whoever is involved in a crime, will be held accountable before the independent and impartial judiciary,” he stated.
