The investigation launched after the lieutenants performed an oath among themselves following the official swearing-in ceremony resulted in the dismissal of 5 lieutenants from the army.

While the prevailing view throughout the process was that the lieutenants would not be dismissed from the army, the decision reached was met with disappointment by a large segment of the public.

While the government front made statements regarding how correct the dismissal decision was, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli also issued a statement and announced that the 'pirate' oath ceremony had been punished.

LIEUTENANT POST FROM THE MAYOR

A post regarding the dismissal decision received by the lieutenants also came from AKP Bursa Büyükorhan Mayor Kamil Turhan.

Just like MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, he used the term 'pirate oath' and accused the lieutenants of being 'coup plotters'.

Turhan used the following expressions in his post:

All coups in this country were carried out by saying 'We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers'.

There is no room for insubordination in the army.

The manner in which the oath is to be taken is clear. Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who was led by coup-loving lieutenants, and those who raised their swords with her have paid the price for the pirate oath they took.
