According to a report in Sözcü, AKP Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa District Board Member and lawyer Orhan Göçen has announced his resignation from his post. Göçen stated, "I am resigning due to developments that have deeply shaken our nation and which I believe have negatively affected our democracy." In his statement on social media, Göçen referenced the words of Caliph Umar: "The religion of the state is justice."
"THE RELIGION OF THE STATE IS JUSTICE"
Göçen included the following remarks in his statement:
"As of October 19, 2025, I am resigning from my position as a full member of the AK Party Süleymanpaşa District Board of Directors, which I have held continuously for 5 months, due to developments that have deeply shaken our nation and which I believe have negatively affected our democracy. I hereby announce to my spouse, friends, older brothers, siblings, and all my loved ones that, from this moment on, I have no remaining ties to any political party or political formation, and that from now on, as always, I will use my logic within the framework drawn by my conscience, especially by standing against injustice. As Hz. Ömer (R.a) said, 'The religion of the state is justice.'"
