AKP member reveals: TikTok license could be revoked!
As debates surrounding the social media platform TikTok continue, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Digital Channels Commission and AKP Hatay Deputy Hüseyin Yayman stated that they are working on very serious measures targeting social media platforms, particularly TikTok, and influencers.

Chairman of the TBMM Digital Channels Commission and AKP Hatay Deputy Hüseyin Yayman discussed the details of the commission's work regarding social media platforms, especially TikTok, in a special statement made in Hatay.
TIKTOK REPRESENTATIVE SUMMONED TO THE COMMISSION
Yayman stated that TikTok's Turkey and Eurasia representative has been summoned to the commission and said, “We condemn and denounce certain broadcasts and images on digital platforms, especially TikTok, that aim to undermine the family structure of Turkish society, and which are contrary to our morals, traditions, culture, and harmful to our children and women, which we cannot approve of in any way. I would like to make a call to our entire nation from here. We have invited Mr. Emir Gelen, TikTok's Turkey and Eurasia representative, on December 7. He will come to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Digital Channels Commission and provide an explanation regarding these issues.”
OMNIBUS BILL COMING
Emphasizing that an omnibus bill is being prepared on the subject, Yayman said, “Regarding some people who call themselves social media influencers—we never know what they are influencers of, and we don't know what they are doing—there is an omnibus bill being prepared in the TBMM. We will take very, very serious steps regarding the investigation, accounting, and taxation of their income. Practices on digital platforms, especially TikTok, that are directed against our nation, our morals, our family, and our children, particularly obscenity, can never be approved of, and the fact that these people appear as if they are doing a good job and receive donations for it already reveals the gravity of the situation.”
LICENSE REVOCATION ON THE AGENDA
Emphasizing that sanctions up to license revocation are on the table, Yayman said the following:
“As the Digital Channels Commission, I would like to announce to the public that we are working on very serious measures regarding all digital platforms, including bandwidth throttling, imposing broadcasting bans, advertising bans, and, if necessary, license revocation.”
