AKP's Şamil Tayyar gives 'collective response' to those angry at his party criticisms: 'I am subjected to insults from turncoat opportunists'

AKP member Şamil Tayyar, who occasionally makes headlines with his criticisms of his party and government policies, has issued a "collective response" to the criticism he has received from "his own camp" for doing so.

Tayyar said, "Sometimes I become the target of the sycophants and bootlickers in our own camp, and other times I am subjected to the insults of incompetent, ambitious people in the opposition, contractor commentators, and turncoat opportunists."

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar, who has drawn attention for some time with his criticisms of the government and its policies, stated that the constructive criticisms he makes to look out for his party have received backlash from "his own camp."

Publishing a "collective response" on his social media account, Tayyar replied to the reactions by writing the following:

"A collective response. For a long time, while evaluating events with a journalistic reflex, I have tried to avoid a harsh and hurtful tone. I am not in active politics, I have no representative duty, I am sharing my personal opinions. My analyses only bind me. However, this path is like walking through a minefield in an environment of intense polarization."

When it suits them, they look for wisdom in my posts; when it doesn't, they call me a 'peasant,' 'riffraff,' or 'disreputable' and spend hours commenting on it. They even produce conspiracy theories from tweets I have deleted. Am I bothered? No, I see that I am on the right path."

Stating that he does not feel bothered and knows he is on the right path, Tayyar used the expressions, "What is essential is not the role politics assigns to you, but the conscience of society and the place you hold in its heart. For that reason, we will continue to be a voice for society, even if it causes discomfort to those around us."
