Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was detained on August 10 as part of two separate investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "bribery," "aiding FETÖ/PDY," and "political and military espionage," was arrested on the morning of August 11. The reason for Epözdemir's arrest was the accusation of "acting as an intermediary for bribery."

While discussions continue regarding the need to deepen the Epözdemir investigation, a new post on the subject has come from AKP's Şamil Tayyar. Stating that Epözdemir's network of relationships within the judiciary must be unraveled and emphasizing that this is of great importance, Tayyar made the following statement on his social media account:

"Very important.

If lawyer Rezan Epözdemir's network of relationships within the judiciary can be unraveled, not a stone will be left standing.

I say this very assertively.

The largest interest-based gang in the judiciary since the FETÖ structure would be exposed.

The incident is much more than just a bribery allegation.

Since our President has also said that 'wherever it leads, it must be pursued to the end,' this means there is no political obstacle to this cleanup operation.

A good start is half the battle; our wish is for it to be completed."
