It has been documented that the Alagöz Mining Company has polluted Derin Dere, located in Giresun's Harşit Valley.

It has emerged that a fine was imposed on the company owned by AKP Iğdır MP Cantürk Alagöz.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change had samples taken on April 18, 2024, from water sources around the "lead, zinc, and copper" mine in Çatalağaç Village, attached to the Doğankent district, owned by AKP's Alagöz. As a result of the samples taken from eight points, it was determined that some values exceeded the specified rates and that Derin Dere in the region was polluted due to mining activity.

According to a report by Birgün, an administrative fine of 464 thousand 585 TL was imposed on Alagöz Maden based on the Environmental Law No. 2872. The penalty report stated, "As a result of the applications and findings made, it has been determined that the surface waters (creek) reaching the facility site have changed due to mining activity and have acquired the quality of wastewater."

WAS FINED LAST YEAR AS WELL

On the other hand, a fine of only 54 thousand 783 TL was imposed last year on Alagöz Maden, which also polluted the creek then. It was learned that the reason for the fine was "the pollution of the creek with excavation, soil, and construction materials."

Local residents state that Alagöz Maden is carrying out a massacre of trees and has been polluting Derin Dere, which is the main water source for surrounding villages, for years.

Local residents said, "The mine's wastewater pond is completely full and about to burst. Because no precautions are being taken, an environmental disaster will occur in plain sight in a short time. We have warned the authorities repeatedly, but no one hears our voice. Due to the mining work, the creek and the water sources feeding the creek have turned black. While all this is happening, the Alagöz mining company went through the EIA process for capacity expansion and now wants to enlarge the Waste Storage Pond, which is about to burst, by 10 times. They want to increase it to an area of approximately 2 million 200 thousand cubic meters and build it on top of water sources. Furthermore, this capacity expansion covers the districts of Doğankent, Tirebolu, Görele, and Çanakçı. By requesting gallery and waste areas in the water sources in these districts, they are threatening all water sources."

HAS RECEIVED 43 SEPARATE TENDERS FROM THE STATE

The owner of Keymen İlaç, which sells rabies vaccines to the Ministry of Health, is also AKP MP Cantürk Alagöz. Approximately 1 billion 800 million TL has been paid from the public purse to Keymen İlaç, which has received approximately 43 separate tenders from the public sector.

Alagöz, who was mentioned in connection with allegations of irregularities in the vaccine supply process from China during the Covid-19 pandemic, had applied to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality shortly before being elected as an MP to increase the construction area (floor area ratio) of his land, which has commercial area status, located in the Mustafa Kemal neighborhood of Ankara's Çankaya district. The proposal was accepted by the majority of AKP council members despite the rejection votes of the CHP, MHP, and İYİ Party groups.
