Following the detention of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, harsh reactions came from opposition parties. AKP Istanbul Provincial Chair Abdullah Özdemir also reacted to the opposition on his social media account. Özdemir stated, "The opposition's base accusations against our President are nothing more than an attempt to pressure the judiciary and cover up their own political desperation."

Özdemir used the following expressions on his social media account;

The Republic of Turkey is a state of law, and the law is binding for everyone. No one, regardless of their political identity, is above the law. Distorting an investigation initiated by the judiciary, manipulating public opinion, and discrediting the process cannot be explained with good intentions.

The base accusations directed at our President by some politicians, primarily the executives of the main opposition party, in order to manipulate the legal process, are nothing more than an attempt to pressure the judiciary and cover up their own political desperation.

Representatives of the main opposition party are trying to politicize the process through perception operations instead of waiting for justice to be served. However, it should not be forgotten that no political figure or group is above the Republic of Turkey. Justice is necessary for everyone, and the law cannot be sacrificed for political shows.

We will continue to defend the rule of law, follow the judicial process with composure, and remain vigilant against any kind of provocation that would cast a shadow over the functioning of the judiciary.
