AKP's Özlem Zengin's 'private jet' statement raises tensions in Parliament! Sharp reaction from Selçuk Özdağ...

The intervention by Israel against the Freedom Flotilla and the detention of Turkish citizens, including Saadet Party Hatay Deputy Necmettin Çalışkan, Bursa Deputy Mehmet Atmaca, and Future Party Denizli Deputy Sema Silkin Ün, were brought to the agenda at the TBMM General Assembly last night. Following these developments, a general debate on the issue was opened in Parliament.

"THEY CONFESSED, THEY LIED"

Taking the floor at the General Assembly, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir stated that sanctions against Israel were either late or incompletely implemented, saying:

“Many speeches were made here regarding the inhumane genocide in Gaza, but it is extremely valuable to shout out once again what the political power has not done. When we asked the esteemed speaker who spoke on behalf of the AKP, she said with some pride that trade ended in May 2024. They claim they ended it after 9 months. During that 9-month period, when we said ‘You are still trading with Israel,’ they accused us of being traitors. But they confessed, and they lied again. They pretended to be going to Palestine. The ships going there turned off their own radars and continued trading.

The amount of steel going to Palestine increased 51 thousand times. The political power is still making money hand over fist from the flow of oil, which is fuel for Israeli jets, through the Baku-Ceyhan Pipeline. They confessed to this here as well. Your attitude, which is submissive in the face of Trump and almost embraces the project of leaving Palestinians homeless, is a clear indication that we can never accept this and that you have abandoned the Palestinian cause. The President says that those rescued from the ship can have a vegetarian menu, in response to his submissiveness there, to the Palestinian struggle, and to Trump. Those who boarded that ship were already able to feed themselves. It is not those coming from that ship, but the people of Gaza who need food.”

"A PRIVATE JET WAS SENT FOR OUR DEPUTIES"

AKP Group Deputy Chairman Özlem Zengin responded to Emir's allegations with the following statements:

“There is absolutely no oil going to Israel passing through that line or through Turkish ports. Azerbaijan has also complied with this law. I also spoke with our Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our 3 deputies are also at Ashdod Port. A private jet went there. Our people there have been monitored. A private jet was sent for our deputies. We expect it to be tomorrow, but they will be here at the latest the day after.”

"DO NOT BOARD THAT JET"

New Way Party Group Deputy Chairman Selçuk Özdağ reacted to the rejection of the requests to open a general debate and issue a declaration made yesterday at the General Assembly. He also gave a sharp response to Zengin's statement that “A private jet was sent for our deputies”:

“When Hasan Bitmez passed away here, it is good that he said, ‘You are trading.’ You said, ‘We are not.’ You were. When South Africa applied to the International Court of Justice, you waited for 8 months. Do not wait, see the danger. You could not see Israel. You cannot say anything to Trump. These general debates are insufficient. ‘We will send a plane for the deputies.’ Do not come back that way, come back with the citizens. Do not board that private jet.”

'CORRECTION' FROM ÖZLEM ZENGİN

Following Özdağ's criticisms, Özlem Zengin corrected her words, stating that the private jet was sent not only for the deputies but for all activists detained by Israel.
