AKP prepares to drive the final nail of imperialism into 'Atatürk's Turkey'

While the AKP government continues to keep the new constitution debate on the agenda, a 'new resolution process' has begun to be discussed following the move by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli toward the DEM Party. Journalist and 12 Punto columnist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu evaluated the realities behind these successive steps.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the "new resolution process" discussions that emerged after Devlet Bahçeli shook hands with DEM Party members, stating, "We are always ready to eliminate issues through non-terrorist methods."

While discussions continue that the government will initiate a new 'resolution process,' this time a new 'mother tongue' statement came from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Erdoğan said, "Millions of our citizens were marginalized and alienated simply because of their beliefs and because they spoke their mother tongue."

While these steps from the AKP and MHP were met with harsh reactions from the opposition front, journalist and 12 Punto columnist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu made a striking post on his social media account.

Pointing to his articles from 2017 and 2021, Mollaveisoğlu made the following statements regarding his two articles that shed light on today:

I want to share two of my articles that shed light from 2017 and 2021 to today.

I had written that the AKP took its roadmap from an imperialist structure called the "International Crisis Group" and that these days were planned. While criticizing military operations in May 2017, the group was making the following recommendations for the AKP government to implement.

* The right to education in the mother tongue,

* An autonomous governance model for Kurds,

* Lowering the election threshold,

* A new constitution stripped of identity...

I draw your attention once again to why the AKP is imposing constitutional change and whose path it is following.

Three years ago, in my column in Cumhuriyet dated September 15, 2021, I wrote, "I think Bahçeli, who has made many sacrifices for the AKP, will not speak out against a new opening process"...

With a process in which it does not have control, and using the new constitution as a cover, the AKP is preparing to drive the final nail of imperialism into Atatürk's Turkey. A historic duty and responsibility falls upon the opposition and the Republican People's Party (CHP) to take the initiative and write a new story in our country, which has lost its brakes.
