AKP responds to claim that 'Erdoğan will flee abroad'

Following the remarks made by Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) Deputy Chairman Doğan Aydal on Halk TV, where he stated, "I think Erdoğan will go to the US if the Constitution is not changed," harsh reactions have come from the AKP.

WHAT DID HE SAY? 

YRP's Doğan Aydal made an assessment stating, "I think Erdoğan will go to the US if the Constitution is not changed."

Journalist İsmail Saymaz, one of the program's commentators, opposed Aydal's words, saying, "We may be politically opposed to Erdoğan, we may criticize him, but you need to know what he would or would not do. Not liking Erdoğan is one thing, but saying he would do something he would not do is another. Erdoğan will not leave this country; I do not consider it a possibility."

"AN EXPRESSION OF UGLINESS"

AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik gave the following response to Aydal's statements on his social media account:

Ugly and Disrespectful: He characterized Aydal's expressions as "an ugly lack of consciousness and disrespect." He stated that he strongly condemns these words.

Erdoğan's Courageous Stance: He emphasized that the whole world knows and the nation appreciates Erdoğan's courageous stance against all kinds of attacks, from the struggle against tutelage to the fight against terrorism and FETÖ.

Legal and Political Struggle: Describing Aydal's expressions as "an expression of ugliness" and "clearly overstepping the mark," Çelik stated that they will continue to fight against such ugliness and slander, and will provide the necessary political and legal responses.

The AKP's harsh reactions show that Aydal's words are viewed as a serious disrespect toward the party's leader and President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and that such rhetoric is considered unacceptable. The AKP stated that it will maintain a determined stance against such statements.
