AKP responds to Ufuk Uras on 'amnesty preparations': Warning of 'unintended consequences'
Ufuk Uras, founding chairman of the Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP), who met with Devlet Bahçeli at the MHP Headquarters, had stated, "From what I see, there is serious preparation. This could be a partial amnesty or something regarding the mother tongue in the constitution; ultimately, it is a subject being thought about and prepared for." A response has come from the AKP.

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler responded to Ufuk Uras's "amnesty preparations" statement. Güler said, "Neither a general nor a partial amnesty is on our agenda.
Amnesty regulations have produced unintended consequences in the past," he said.
Güler evaluated Ufuk Uras's remarks. Güler stated, "There is no general or partial amnesty on our agenda."
Answering questions from KRT's Sinan Onuş, Abdullah Güler said, "I do not know from what perspective he made this assessment, but there is no general or partial amnesty on our agenda."
Stating, "In past periods, unfortunately, we see that individuals pardoned with the amnesty issued in 1999 committed crimes again and returned to prison shortly after," Güler said, “Events we call amnesty unfortunately do not yield the right results.
I do not know what the relevant former deputy based this on. It is not on our agenda,” he declared.
