AKP-run municipality that banned Kırmızı Kedi Publishing opens its doors to Vuslat Association

Following the censorship imposed on Kırmızı Kedi authors at the 6th Eastern Anatolia Erzurum Book Fair, another scandal has occurred at the event. Kırmızı Kedi Publishing has reacted to the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, which banned certain books from the publisher on the grounds that they contained political content, for inviting Şevket Gökşan from the Vuslat Association to the fair.

At the book fair organized by the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, it was prohibited to place books by journalists Barış Pehlivan, Barış Terkoğlu, Timur Soykan, Merdan Yanardağ, and İsmail Saymaz, all published by Kırmızı Kedi, on the stands.

Regarding the matter, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing owner Haluk Hepkon  made the following post on his social media account:

“The Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, which censors Kırmızı Kedi and its authors, invites M. Şevket Gökşan from the Vuslat Association to the book fair, yet bans Murat Ağırel, who wrote that this association is a sponsor of Cübbeli Ahmet. All publishing houses and authors can and should participate in a book fair. The absurdity lies in allowing some to participate while banning others. This is not a book fair; at best, it is a caricature of a fair.”
