AKP's Mehmet Metiner speaks out on 'pro-government media': A new media order must be established

Criticizing 'pro-government media' on his social media account, AKP member Mehmet Metiner commented, "A single-voiced, single-colored, and single-party media order is wrong. Media that turns itself into a blind apparatus for just one party can eventually close its doors even to people who belong to the same party but have a critical approach."

Following the March 31 Local Elections, former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner, made another noteworthy post on his social media account.

Criticizing the 'pro-government media,' Metiner "A single-voiced, single-colored, and single-party media order is wrong. Media that turns itself into a blind apparatus for just one party can eventually close its doors even to people who belong to the same party but have a critical approach" he stated.

Metiner "A new media order must be established" he wrote.

"The fact that the media, which should be polyphonic and libertarian, has become a carrier apparatus for blind fanaticism is, in my opinion, a problem that must be resolved urgently" said Metiner, "Let it be known that this type of pro-government media approach actually harms those they act on behalf of and only produces sycophants who want to reap a great deal of power. A new media order must be established" he expressed.

Metiner continued his posts with the following statements:

"Being on someone's side and blind partisanship are two separate phenomena that should not be confused.

The claim of impartiality is a huge lie. Blind partisanship, on the other hand, is pure harm. Taking a side does not mean silencing the voices of other sides or preventing other voices from being heard.

I sincerely believe that a new media order being polyphonic and libertarian will actually add prestige and power to the side taken or the idea defended. As long as level and respect are adopted as a prerequisite.

Every thought and every movement closed to criticism eventually produces its own status quo and the sycophants who feed on that status quo, becoming stagnant and bigoted.

The media order closing itself to criticism in the name of partisanship is, first of all, a denial of itself, and secondly, harmful to the movement it is being partisan for.
