AKP's Özbudun responds to 'lifetime presidency offer' claims with a story: 'A little tabloid is needed too'

It was alleged that AKP's Serap Yazıcı Özbudun had used the words, "If we could find a way to return to the parliamentary system. If we could put a temporary article in the Constitution and you remained president for life." Following the claim, Özbudun shared a post with the note, 'a little tabloid is needed'.

Serap Yazıcı Özbudun, who was elected as a member of parliament from the CHP lists in the 2023 general elections, resigned from her party in February 2025 and joined the AKP.

Kısa Dalga writer and journalist Sedat Bozkurt had claimed that AKP's Özbudun used the expressions, "I have defended the parliamentary system from the beginning, and I am at the same point today. If we could find a way to return to the parliamentary system. If we could put a temporary article in the Constitution and you remained president for life."

Following the claim in question, Özbudun made a post on her social media account.

Serap Yazıcı Özbudun wrote the following:

"Reading what has been written over the last day or two, this story inevitably came to my mind:

"Prophet David, who had no children, prayed to God and said, 'My Lord, give me a daughter, and I will sacrifice her to you'... The prayer was answered; David named his daughter Ayşe... As time passed, the time for the child to be sacrificed arrived. Prophet David laid his daughter down, and just as he was about to cut her throat to sacrifice her, the Angel of Death appeared from the sky with a goat and said, 'Leave the girl, take this goat and sacrifice it instead'..."

One of the listeners could not hold back:

"Oh, where do I even begin to correct this... It was Prophet Abraham, not Prophet David; it was a boy, not a girl; it was Ishmael, not Ayşe; it was Gabriel, not the Angel of Death; and what was sacrificed was a ram, not a goat!"

In an environment where such an intense agenda occupies minds, a little tabloid is needed too"
