Following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement to journalist Nagehan Alçı that a house with a garden had been built on İmralı, Tayyar, who explained the process regarding the issue, stated that Öcalan uses the office facilities of the structure in question when needed.
Tayyar's statements on the matter from his social media account are as follows:
"Since Devlet Bey announced to journalist Nagehan Alçı that a house with a garden was built for Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı, let us elaborate a bit. We had been aware of the issue for a long time, and we never brought it up due to our word to the person who provided the information. Now, that word has lost its validity.
The 'house with a garden' that Devlet Bey announced is a duplex villa. It has 250 square meters of indoor space. It has a garden twice that size. It was planned as both a residence and a workspace. It has all kinds of technical infrastructure; it has video phone and internet access. Öcalan has not moved in yet, but he uses the office conditions of the villa when needed.
Öcalan's persistent demand for status was turned down by our President; he does not want to take a step before the disarmament process is finalized. And this is the right thing to do."
