AKP's Tayyar shares post on appointments with 'hafiz minister' emphasis: As far as I know, it's a first

With the cabinet reshuffle, Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed as Minister of Interior and Akın Gürlek as Minister of Justice. While messages regarding the appointments came from the AKP front, a notable post also came from Şamil Tayyar.

Şamil Tayyar, who actively uses his social media account and shows that he closely follows developments on the agenda through his posts, shared a message regarding the appointments made following the decree published in the Official Gazette.

Thanking Yılmaz Tunç and Ali Yerlikaya for their services, Tayyar also wished success to the newly appointed names.

In his congratulatory message, Tayyar also made a reference to the fact that Minister of Interior Çiftçi is a hafiz (someone who has memorized the Quran).

The new appointments in the cabinet are a change of guard.

I wish success to Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi and Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek in their new duties.

Çiftçi is also a hafiz.

NEW INTERIOR MINISTER MUSTAFA ÇİFTÇİ WON THE 'STAY A HAFIZ' COMPETITION

A notable detail emerged about the new Minister of Interior, Mustafa Çiftçi, whose biography was scrutinized following the appointment decision. It was learned that Çiftçi, who moved from the post of Governor of Erzurum to the ministerial seat, is a hafiz.

In the "Stay a Hafiz" competition held in Erzincan in 2024, 4 contestants who qualified for the Turkey final by ranking in their regions competed in the 15-juz category, and 5 contestants competed in the 5-juz category by being asked three questions each.

In the Turkey final of the competition, Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi won first place in the 15-juz category.

Explaining that he prepared strictly for the competitions, Çiftçi had said, "I participated in the competition in the 15-juz category. I heard about this competition at the beginning of the year. Because it was like that, I participated in the competitions in the 1 and 15-juz categories to be able to prepare. Since that day, I have been preparing for this competition very strictly."

Describing his process of becoming a hafiz, Çiftçi had noted the following:

"I completed my memorization in 1983 at the Havzan Nuraniye affiliated with our Presidency of Religious Affairs in Konya, with our late teacher İsmail Ketenci. About 41 years have passed since that day. I never broke my connection with the Holy Quran; that is, I definitely set aside one hour every day and worked for one hour. I think this competition organized by our Presidency of Religious Affairs is very beneficial and meaningful. This competition was already the first this year, I hope it will continue from now on."
