AKP's Şamil Tayyar claims new addition to People's Alliance: 'Highly likely'

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar has shared his assessments regarding the developments expected in Turkish politics following the PKK's announcement of dissolution. Tayyar stated that if the process is successfully concluded and the PKK is completely dismantled, there is a very high probability that the DEM Party could become a new component of the People's Alliance.

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar shared insights gathered from sources close to the AKP while speaking on a live TGRT broadcast.

Tayyar pointed out that if the resolution process is successfully concluded, it is highly likely that the DEM Party could become the fourth component of the People's Alliance, following the AKP, MHP, and the Great Unity Party (BBP).

Much depends on the success rate of the process. If it is successful, its reflection on politics will be different. If it ends in failure, it will be different.

Looking at it from a positive perspective, if terrorism ends and the PKK's decision to dissolve is implemented in every aspect, if there is nothing left called the YPG, and if Turkey is completely rid of this scourge of terrorism, political paradigms will be completely overturned in such a climate of peace over the next 2 years.

'ÖCALAN WILL BE THE PERSON MANAGING DEM'

First, the DEM Party will transform; it will become a party managed directly by Imralı, not by Qandil. Abdullah Öcalan will not be involved in politics, but he will be the person managing DEM. He will determine its cadres and policies.

Furthermore, I think a separation from the Turkish left will begin. The harshest statements regarding the resolution process from within DEM were coming from the Turkish left. They themselves now accept that the Turkish left can no longer oppose DEM, and that problems will arise if they continue to walk alongside DEM.

They are talking about forming a new left-wing front led by the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), and I see a high probability of this coming to fruition. DEM will separate from the Turkish left, free itself from those shackles, and become a party of its own, with the strings remaining entirely in the hands of Imralı.

'A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN AKP AND DEM MAY BE POSSIBLE'

This relationship could, of course, also grant DEM a new political position. When the resolution process succeeds, it is highly probable that it could become a new component of the People's Alliance. I can say with all sincerity that I know that at no stage of the resolution process so far, while certain coordinates were being determined regarding this process, has any issue regarding a constitutional amendment concerning President Erdoğan's term of office or a decision for elections been discussed. I can clearly underline that this has not been on the agenda in any way.

If this resolution process reaches success and the DEM Party becomes a component of the People's Alliance, undoubtedly, cooperation and a political partnership on certain issues may be possible. These are situations that may arise in the future.

'İYİ PARTY, ZAFER PARTY, AND YENİDEN REFAH COULD FORM AN ALLIANCE'

These developments will completely change the CHP's political projection for the future. Because it had won municipalities through the relationship it established with DEM, and DEM had been one of the main supporting elements that fueled its dreams regarding the presidential elections. Now, when the DEM Party changes its position, the CHP needs new partners. Because without DEM, the probability of exceeding 50 percent decreases to almost zero, and this situation may force the CHP into new searches outside of DEM.

I believe that no matter how the resolution process concludes, a nationalist front will form in politics. The İYİ Party, the Zafer Party, and perhaps by expanding the scope a bit more, it could become a nationalist-conservative alliance by including the Yeniden Refah Party as well.
