In a statement regarding a column by former Constitutional Court President Yekta Güngör Özden, AKP Secretary General Fatih Şahin said, "Yekta Güngör Özden, one of the former Constitutional Court Presidents who has a CHP business card in his past and is known for the delusion that 'those who are not secular are not human,' has called for a coup in a national newspaper where he secured a column, using his habit from dark periods by mentioning the silence of the army and exploiting our beloved armed forces.

Moreover, he has used Mustafa Kemal as a tool for his dirty ambitions.

Let everyone know this very well: the old Turkey no longer exists. The days when headlines like 'Young officers are uneasy' were written and 'Army to duty' banners were unfurled are now behind us. The miserable representatives of every kind of dark mentality should not forget that their era has closed.

There is no place for the politics of exploitation and dreams of tutelage in Turkey's bright future, and there never will be," he stated.
