AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik emphasized that the reopening of the Turkish Embassy in Syria after a 12-year hiatus is the signature of a great struggle that has been waged.
Çelik shared a post on his social media account regarding the opening of the Embassy. In his post, Çelik included the following words:
"The hoisting of our glorious flag at our Damascus Embassy after a 12-year hiatus and the resumption of our embassy activities is a powerful signature placed on a great struggle.
Just as we have always stood by our Syrian brothers and sisters whom we saved from networks of massacre, Turkey will continue to be the greatest friend and supporter of the Syrian people as they walk toward a free and honorable future.
With our President's unique experience and determination regarding regional policies and international politics, we have stood on the right side of history at every moment of this challenging journey. We have expressed once again with a historic event that we will continue to be by the side of the Syrian people in this new era as well."
