AKP spokesperson Çelik reacts to CHP's 'protest': It is harming the nation's trust

In a statement on his social media account, Ömer Çelik used the following expressions:

The fact that our esteemed President, as the head of our state, comes together with the honorable leaders of political parties on the day the Grand National Assembly opens is a valuable unity for our political and state life. 

The Grand National Assembly, which is the place where the national will is manifested, represents the high will of our nation. The fact that our President, who was elected by the direct votes of our nation and serves with one of the highest legitimacy rates in world political history, leads the unity in the Grand National Assembly and that the honorable political party leaders participate in this, has revealed an exceptional democratic consciousness filtered from the depths of our state life. 

Despite different views, the fact that political parties are in dialogue on the opening day of the Assembly is a clear and national response given to the chaos in the outside world. 

We see that negative approaches towards this unity come from the CHP administration, which has fallen into the historical mistake of protesting the Assembly, and from some circles that want to erode civilian politics. These are approaches that are contrary to the “existence of democracy” and the “logic of politics.” 

Every focus that protests the Grand National Assembly denies its own political existence. The “home” of every structure that claims to engage in politics is the Assembly. Those who try to make the Assembly dysfunctional have always been the centers of tutelage. It is grave for this mentality to penetrate any political party. 

The Assembly is the place of the nation, and democratic politics is the trust of the nation. 

The approach of everyone who contributes to these values is honorable. Contrary behaviors, however, are harming the nation's trust.
