AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in a post on his social media account, reacted to the interventions against those who want to gather in solidarity with Palestine in European countries.
Noting that it is unacceptable for Western governments to pressure those organizing pro-Palestine demonstrations and to develop approaches that criminalize support for the Palestinian people, Çelik made the following assessments:
"The actions of Israeli security forces against the people of Gaza are contrary to all humanitarian values, human rights, and international law. It is a right for people all over the world to react to this. Those who remain silent while the people of Gaza have been bombed and deprived of water for days have been condemned by the conscience of humanity. They are trying to criminalize demonstrations of support for Palestine. What those who try to ban demonstrations held in the name of human conscience and vitality are doing is fascism.
The pressure applied to pro-Palestine demonstrations in squares and universities in many Western countries is an attempt by some to cover up their own crimes. Those who approach even the deaths of children with selective justice have nothing to say about justice."
