AKP's statement on 'Ahmet Özer' regarding his potential return: Here is the condition

Adem Yıldırım stated the following:

"Although we have carried out work in the TBMM General Assembly with all parties coming together to establish an investigation commission regarding children, women, and the recent 'newborn gang' issue, some media outlets close to the opposition have misled the public by claiming that 'the motions were rejected by AKP-MHP votes'. 

We have seen that this has also found a response on the street. There is no such situation. In parliamentary work, there is an order of motions that proceeds from those with fewer groups to those with more. Therefore, since we are the party with the largest group, our motion is read last.

Even though the opposition parties know that we will submit a motion, they are trying to create cheap politics here, thinking that this should be investigated.

We see that some artists on social media are participating in this. We clearly state the following regarding this matter: issues concerning children and women have passed through our Parliament with the joint motion of all parties. We may be partisan, but these are issues that transcend politics."

"WE HAVE RECEIVED DEMANDS FOR DETENTION FOR SENTENCES UNDER TWO YEARS"

Stating that they have started a program where they meet with citizens in Istanbul to listen to their demands, Yıldırım noted that the perception of "impunity" has increased among the public and said:

"There have been demands for the reconsideration of detention for sentences under two years, and we have received demands regarding the revision of the probation regulation; this means that even though such a regulation was a need at the time, our citizens are now requesting it to be reviewed. There is a perception of impunity regarding this.

For example, I get into a fight with someone I don't know over a parking space and maybe I get beaten up, but when I see that he is not subjected to any sanctions for this act, my trust in justice diminishes.

In such incidents, regulations are needed to remove the perception of impunity so that those who commit crimes do not get away with it. We need to create a system where even for short-term sentences, a certain period is spent in prison. There is a demand that even if there is probation, it should be after a certain period has passed. 

"IF THE ALLEGATIONS ARE DISPROVEN, HE WILL RETURN TO THE MAYORALTY"

Upon a question, Adem Yıldırım noted the following regarding the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer:

"He was removed from office as a precautionary measure because a clear statement was not provided. The mayorship is not terminated; if these allegations are disproven tomorrow, he will return to the mayorship. You cannot elect a mayor from the municipal council while there is a mayor whose duty is ongoing.

For this, his duty must end. There is no dismissal here; there is a temporary suspension from duty. Let's say that when all allegations are cleared, he can return as mayor. If the mayorship had ended completely, then he would have been elected from the council. We will follow it and see the result together. 

We do not know if he has been followed for 10 years. There is such a claim, but we do not know. It is not just an event from 10 years ago; it emerges based on recent events. These statements were also made before the municipal election. A cooperation aimed at deceiving the nation was made under the name of 'City Consensus'. A liar's candle burns until the evening prayer. This person's past is already known; this was told to our CHP friends.

There is an effort to make terrorism appear innocent. You say 'we founded the Republic' two days ago, and then it evolves into another dimension. I have difficulty understanding this. While we were telling the DEM Party to 'keep your distance from terrorism', we have now reached the point of telling the CHP to 'keep your distance from terrorism'. This is very sad for the CHP."
