A statement has come from the AKP regarding the Ministry of Labor and Social Security's initiation of foreclosure proceedings against 6 CHP-run municipalities following President Erdoğan's 'shake-up' instruction.

Speaking at a press conference in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), AKP Elazığ Deputy Ejder Açıkkapı said, "Requests for meetings were repeatedly conveyed to municipalities with SGK debts by our Ministry of Labor and Social Security. They were asked to demonstrate a will to pay their debts. But unfortunately, many municipalities of the Republican People's Party refrained from paying these debts. Let alone paying, they did not even sit down to discuss this issue with our Ministry of Labor and Social Security."

AKP's Ejder Açıkkapı stated the following:

"Whether they are from the Republican People's Party or the AK Party, those municipalities that do not respond to this positive approach will, of course, face this situation in the coming process; this will not be a situation directed only at the Republican People's Party. Any municipality that does not show a positive approach regarding the debts that our Ministry of Labor and Social Security has invited them to pay will naturally face this situation."

Following the 'shake-up' instruction from AKP President Erdoğan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security had initiated foreclosure proceedings against the Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir, and Mersin Metropolitan Municipalities, as well as the Şişli Municipality, due to their Social Security Institution (SGK) debts.
