AKP to work on 'transfer efforts' during the summer! 3 parties targeted, here are the promises to be made...

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will go into recess after the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

The agenda of the TBMM in the new legislative term will be the new constitution. The AKP, meanwhile, will engage in 'transfer efforts' throughout the summer for the new constitution before the new legislative term begins.

Before the Assembly went into recess, a claim emerged that stirred the corridors of Ankara.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the AKP will initiate new transfer attempts to increase its number of seats in the TBMM.

It is alleged that the AKP, which wants to reach the number required for constitutional amendments, will hold one-on-one meetings with deputies from some smaller parties.

It is claimed that in these meetings, the AKP will offer the deputies it wishes to transfer promises such as committee memberships, deputy ministerial positions, and renomination after the election.

These meetings will primarily take place with deputies from the Felicity Party, the Future Party, and the New Welfare Party.

It is stated that negotiations will be held for these deputies to become independent from their parties and join the AKP or provide "support votes." It is also noted that independent deputies are on the AKP's persuasion list. 

It is also being discussed in the corridors that some consultants close to the AKP will carry out these contacts not directly, but through intermediary politicians or former deputies.

WILL CONTINUE 'QUIETLY' THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER

AKP sources noted that the transfer process will be carried out quietly throughout the summer and that some transitions will become clear as autumn approaches.

The same sources, while avoiding naming names, use the expression "the contacts are not principled, but based on political grounds."

"OPEN INTERFERENCE WITH THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE"

In the corridors of the IYI Party, these contacts are evaluated as "the ruling party's deputy recruitment operation." A high-level official from the IYI Party also commented, "This is an open interference with the will of the people." 

IF DEM PARTY ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT, 19 DEPUTIES REMAIN

For a constitutional amendment without a referendum, 360 votes are required, and for a "direct" constitutional amendment without a referendum, 400 votes are required. The total number of deputies of the political parties included in the People's Alliance—AKP, MHP, HÜDA PAR, and DSP—is 325. To reach 400 deputies for a constitutional amendment without a referendum, the People's Alliance needs the support of 75 deputies. When the support of the DEM Party is included, the need for support drops to 19 deputies.
