The X account of 'troll' Furkan Bölükbaşı, known for his scandalous social media posts, was blocked from access on August 17.

Bölükbaşı announced that his account was shut down following a complaint by historian and National Defense University (MSÜ) rector Erhan Afyoncu.

An ex officio investigation had been launched against AKP troll Furkan Bölükbaşı, known for his posts targeting Atatürk, for the crime of "publicly insulting the memory of Atatürk" after he compared Anıtkabir to a "Greek temple."

Bölükbaşı's X account was blocked from access on August 17.

Bölükbaşı announced that his X account was blocked from access upon the request of historian Professor Erhan Afyoncu.

In a statement regarding the matter, Bölükbaşı said:

- We have obtained the decision for the access block: The person who requested the access block is Erhan Afyoncu. The reason for my being blocked is my criticism of Erhan Afyoncu's ideas regarding the Turkish-Turkiyeli debate.

- While access blocks are not even imposed on those who criticize, or even slander and insult President Erdoğan, how is my account being blocked from access for criticizing Erhan Afyoncu?
