Ali Babacan: Do not drag the country into chaos

Reactions are growing like an avalanche following the detention of Ümit Özdağ while he was eating.

Messages from the chairmen of opposition parties continue to arrive one after another. Most recently, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan also expressed his reaction.

Here is that reaction from Babacan:

Freedom of expression, which is one of the foundations of pluralistic democracy, is for everyone. 

It makes no exceptions.

It is unacceptable for first a youth branch president of a party, and then a party chairman, to be detained due to their statements.

Stop using the judiciary as a stick and shaking the nation's and the country's trust in the state more every day. 

Do not give messages of brotherhood on one hand while dragging the country into chaos on the other.

If you want to see positive momentum in every area of this country; if you want brotherhood and peace, it is essential that the judiciary be independent.
