Ali Babacan lashes out at CHP! 'If we were to talk about its past...'

DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan met with journalist Hasan Basri Akdemir at his party's headquarters to evaluate current political developments.

Criticizing the political line followed by the Republican People's Party (CHP) in recent times, Babacan also answered questions regarding the possibility of a potential alliance, which has been a subject of public curiosity.

Targeting the CHP's stance, particularly regarding its Syria policy, Babacan described the statements made about mayors who left the party as a "revanchist" approach.

Responding clearly to alliance claims, Babacan stated, "There is no search for an alliance on the CHP side. With the situation as it is, there is no possibility of our paths crossing with the CHP. There is no such demand there, in other words."

Emphasizing that even if a cooperation proposal were to come from the CHP, the party management's vision for Turkey remains unclear to them, Babacan continued his criticism with the words: "Even if there were a demand, our minds are not very clear about the current management's vision for Turkey and what kind of Turkey they want to see. Some rhetoric, some expressions—let's say, for example, the Syria policy. Things come up, such reflexes, that we say, 'Wait, there is something different here.' Or such expressions are used regarding certain segments, certain circles, that if we were to talk about the CHP's past, there would be a fight at that table."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

During the 2023 presidential election process, the DEVA Party, under the leadership of Ali Babacan, had taken part in the Table of Six together with the CHP. The structure in question was officially announced to the public on February 12, 2022.

In addition to the CHP, the Saadet Party, the Democrat Party, the IYI Party, the DEVA Party, and the Future Party were part of this alliance.
