According to a report by Sözcü, Erbaş has filed a total of 3,000 lawsuits during his 2,689-day tenure, averaging one lawsuit for every day. Erbaş has also filed lawsuits against journalists who reported on allegations of corruption within the Diyanet.

It was noted that Mehmet Görmez, who served before Erbaş from November 11, 2010, to July 31, 2017, did not file any defamation or compensation lawsuits against anyone.
Ali Bardakoğlu, who took office on March 28, 2003, also did not file any lawsuits against anyone until November 11, 2010.
