The Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has surpassed 6 ministries with its 91.8 billion TL budget for 2024.
While it is stated in the Court of Accounts reports that no irregularities were detected regarding Diyanet, the increase in the vehicle account did not go unnoticed.
According to the report by Deniz Ayhan from Sözcü, Diyanet's vehicle account, which stood at 17 million 363 thousand 891 TL in 2021, contained 17 million 670 thousand 546 TL in 2022. In 2023, there was an explosion, and the amount skyrocketed to 100 million 85 thousand 377. In other words, it increased 5.6 times in one year.
AUDI A8 HAD BEEN RETURNED
The Presidency of Religious Affairs recently made headlines with the Audi A8 provided for the use of President Ali Erbaş. Following Erbaş's return of the A8, Diyanet announced that the number of vehicles in its parking lot, including rental ones, was 408. 283 of the 408 vehicles consist of passenger cars.
TAX REVENUE IS 407 MILLION 834 THOUSAND TL
The revenue generated by the Presidency of Religious Affairs from taxes was revealed through financial reports submitted to the Court of Accounts. The institution, which generated 736 million 596 thousand 350 TL in tax revenue in 2019, generated 738 million 82 thousand 783 TL in 2020, 937 million 172 thousand 547 TL in 2021, and 462 million 981 thousand 600 TL in 2022. In 2023, the tax revenue generated was 407 million 834 thousand 475 TL.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs' 2023 period operating expenditures resulted in a deficit of 47 billion 389 million 352 thousand TL. The total equity of the institution was announced as 5 billion 790 million 714 thousand TL.
