Ali Erbaş: There are such mathematical subjects in the Holy Quran..."

Diyanet President Ali Erbaş, who came to the city for various engagements, attended the opening of the "Mustafa Çınar Quran Course" in the Karadeniz Ereğli district.

Speaking at the program, which began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, Erbaş thanked those who contributed to the opening of the course and said, "Our Prophet gives this glad tiding: Wherever the Quran is mentioned and the Quran is taken as the center, the angels of Allah spread their wings over that place and that town, and they shower mercy. This neighborhood, thanks to this Quran course, will hopefully attain the mercy poured from the wings of the angels."

"THE BETTER A PERSON KNOWS MATHEMATICS..."

Erbaş pointed out that certain sciences must be studied in order to better understand the Quran.

"The better a person knows biology, the better they understand the Quran. The better they know sociology, the better they understand the Quran; even the better they know mathematics, the better they understand the Holy Quran. There are such mathematical subjects in the Holy Quran..." said Erbaş, and continued as follows:

"If a person knows astronomy well, they understand the Quran better; in fact, in Surah Yasin, it is stated: 'The sun runs on to a destination appointed for it.' This is a measure set by Allah. The science of astronomy serves to help us understand the Quran better. Here, while our children are learning the Quran, they will also learn the sciences we study to better understand the Quran. Therefore, in Islamic sciences, in the history of science of Islamic civilization, there is no classification as religious sciences and non-religious sciences. All of them are religious sciences; that is, according to our understanding, just as tafsir (exegesis) is a religious science, astronomy is just as much a religious science. Just as hadith is a religious science, mathematics is just as much a religious science."
