Ali Yerlikaya announced the number of personnel assigned for March 31

There are only a few days left until the local elections on March 31, 2024.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a press statement regarding election security.

Yerlikaya announced that an Election Coordination Board and an Election Operations Center have been established to ensure election security.

Stating that they have taken every measure for election security, Yerlikaya reported that 594 thousand personnel have been assigned.

Minister Yerlikaya noted the following in his statement:

"We held election security meetings with the participation of provincial governors, provincial gendarmerie commanders, provincial police chiefs, and other relevant unit supervisors. Provincial election security plans were prepared in line with the risk analyses conducted at these meetings. In addition to these efforts, we held meetings with the governors of our 81 provinces regarding election security. We held evaluation meetings with officials from the Supreme Election Council. Furthermore, under the coordination of the Supreme Election Council, meetings were held on cybersecurity with the participation of representatives from the General Directorate of Provincial Administration, the Gendarmerie General Command, and the General Directorate of Security, and the necessary measures to be taken were determined.

Thank God, we have emerged from all the general and local elections we have held as a country to date by crowning our democracy. Last year, we experienced two major elections. As a country, the will of our people was reflected in the ballot box in these elections as well, with participation reaching up to 90 percent. Now, we have the March 31 Local Administration Elections ahead of us. We are taking, and will continue to take, every measure within the boundaries of the rule of law with our governorships, our gendarmerie, our police, and all our law enforcement forces so that each of our 85 million citizens can go to the polls with peace of mind and the national will can be reflected in the ballot box.

Within the scope of election security for the March 31 Local Administration Elections, a total of 594 thousand personnel have been assigned, including 324 thousand from the General Directorate of Security, 197 thousand from the Gendarmerie General Command, 2 thousand 850 from the Coast Guard Command, 53 thousand security guards, and 17 thousand volunteer security guards. Additionally, we are keeping our helicopters, airplanes, and UAVs belonging to our law enforcement units ready for duty. I believe that in all 81 of our provinces, in every city, and on every street, we will experience an election environment in peace and security with our Interior family."
