In Istanbul, the claim that applications with sequence numbers exceeding one million were excluded from the system during the lottery for TOKİ's social housing project has sparked debates over thousands of people being victimized. CHP MP Hasan Öztürk submitted a parliamentary question to the Ministry regarding the issue.
The 'First Home' social housing project lottery, held on April 27 at the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden in Istanbul, was overshadowed by a technical glitch. It was announced that 22,714 beneficiaries were determined in the "Other" category, which had 577,564 applications, during the drawing held in the presence of a notary. However, it was noted that none of the 72,659 citizens with sequence numbers over 1 million appeared in the results. This situation raised the claim that there might be an error in the software that cannot recognize numbers beyond six digits.
''ATTENTION DRAWN TO IT BEING MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE''
CHP Bursa MP Hasan Öztürk submitted a written parliamentary question to Minister Murat Kurum, suspecting that the system did not identify applications after 999,999, and thus these applications were not included in the lottery. Öztürk said, 'Citizens' rights have been usurped. The resulting picture is statistically too impossible to be a coincidence.'
Öztürk compared the situation to flipping a coin 4,200 times and getting the same result every time. Furthermore, stating that artificial intelligence analyses also strongly question the lottery results, Öztürk emphasized that this probability is as low as someone hitting the jackpot in the national lottery for 160 consecutive weeks.
Due to this problem that emerged in the drawing for beneficiary status, calls were made for the quota distribution of the "Other" category in Istanbul to be declared invalid and for the lottery to be repeated. It was also demanded that the drawings in other provinces where the same system was used be examined and that an investigation be launched into those responsible.
