It has been alleged that T.E.C., the principal of TEV Türkan Sedefoğlu Primary School in Istanbul, committed fraud.

ALLEGATIONS OF INVOICING FOR GROUND MEAT, CUBED MEAT, AND BUTTER

According to the report by Mustafa Kömüş from BirGün; it is alleged that T.E.C. never deposited the money collected from parents into the school parent-teacher association account, and that thousands of liras worth of invoices were issued every month from a delicatessen near the school for the kindergarten, but the products listed on the invoices were never provided to the children. Among the allegations is also that the principal collected money from parents with the promise of enrolling their children in the classes of their choice.

150 KILOGRAMS OF OLIVES

Invoices were issued as if kilograms of ground meat, cubed meat, chicken, and butter were purchased for the school almost every month by T.E.C. The invoices issued for the kindergarten began in August 2023, when there were no students at the school. On August 10, 2023, an invoice was issued to the school for 50 kilograms each of ground meat, cubed meat, white cheese, butter, and fresh kashar cheese, along with 150 kilograms of olives. The total amount was 71 thousand 962 TL. This situation continued after the school year began. In September, October, November, and December, it was shown as if kilograms of food products had been purchased. However, according to the claims of the parent-teacher association members, these products were never placed in front of the children.

BETWEEN 20 AND 50 THOUSAND LIRA COLLECTED FROM PARENTS

In one video, it was seen that while school principal T.E.C. was counting money, a person said to him, “Teacher, this money is the extra. The difference was 5 thousand 355 TL. My actual receivable was 15 thousand TL. I handed you 5 thousand 360 TL. Teacher A. will also send me the invoice amount.”

Parent-teacher association members made other allegations as well. According to the claim, school principal T.E.C. collected between 20 thousand and 50 thousand TL from parents with the promise of placing their children in the classes of teachers they requested. However, this money was not deposited into the school parent-teacher association account. Furthermore, it is alleged that the vast majority of the money collected for activities such as folk dances held at the school was taken by T.E.C. into his own account.

ASSIGNED TO ANOTHER SCHOOL

When we called the school to ask about the allegations, the official said that T.E.C. had been sent to Mehmet Emin Pulatkunak Primary School via an assignment. This time, we called Mehmet Emin Pulatkunak Primary School. We told the official who answered the phone that there were some accusations against the principal and that we wanted to give him a right of reply. He told us to call back in 5 minutes. Although we called repeatedly afterward, the school's phone was not answered.
