Following the US approval of ammunition sales to Israel, developments regarding the contractor company have drawn attention. While it was stated that Israel would purchase thousands of bombs from the US as part of the sale announced by US authorities, the Turkish-origin company involved in the project has changed its name.

US BOMB SALE TO ISRAEL

The US State Department announced on Friday, March 6, that it had made a decision approving the sale of ammunition to Israel.

In the statement, it was reported that the Israeli government would purchase 12,000 "BLU-110A/B" type bombs from the US and pay 151 million 800 thousand dollars for this sale.

It was also stated that the process was exempted from US Congressional approval on the grounds that the sale was of an "urgent" nature.

REPKON USA IDENTIFIED AS CONTRACTOR

It was reported that the main contractor in the sale in question was the Turkish-origin company Repkon USA, located in the US state of Texas.

However, in a statement made by the company, it was stated that there was no direct decision or sales transaction regarding the sale of bombs to Israel.

STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY

In the statement made by Repkon, it was noted that some news reports created a perception that the company was making direct sales or was in a decision-making position.

The statement included the following expressions:

"In some news reports based on an ammunition procurement decision made in the US, an impression has been created that Repkon is making direct sales or is the decision-maker in the process. However, Repkon has no request, decision, or sales transaction in the process in question. It is unacceptable that such content in the international press is repeated by some domestic media outlets without being questioned and that our company is directly targeted."

DECISION TO CHANGE NAME

Following the news about the ammunition sale to Israel and the reactions in the public opinion, the company changed its name.

According to the news reported by Ragıp Soylu in Middle East Eye, the company announced in a statement on Tuesday that it will now operate under the name Paligen Technologies Inc.

In the statement made by the company, the definition of "a US-based defense contractor" was used for the institution.
