Allegations of 'stick' beating at imam hatip school
Z.B., who claims that her son A.B.K., a student at an imam hatip middle school in Diyarbakır, was beaten with a stick first by the vice principal and then by his Quran teacher, has filed a complaint with CİMER.

According to Amidahaber, a mother living in Diyarbakır, Z.B., has applied to CİMER.
Stating that her son A.B.K., who attends Yenişehir Şehit Başkomiser Fatih Özdil İmam Hatip Middle School, has been subjected to systematic peer bullying and teacher violence, Z.B. noted that she received no results from any of the meetings she held with the administration and teachers.
"WHEN MY SON DEFENDED HIMSELF, HE WAS MARGINALIZED BY HIS TEACHERS"
Stating that her 7th-grade son was subjected to peer bullying at school, Z.B. included the following statements in her petition to CİMER: “Rude actions are being taken and my child is being beaten. As a mother, I acted with common sense and advised my child to report the situation to the school administration and his teachers. However, the school administration did not discipline these children who were bullying, and although I requested that my child's class be changed, they did not do so. Upon this, when my child rightfully defended himself against the insults and violence he faced, he was then declared 'problematic' and marginalized by the school administration and some teachers.”
"SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION TURNED A BLIND EYE"
The continuation of Z.B.'s petition, in which she claims the school administration remained silent in the face of the bullying her child was subjected to, is as follows:
"A few weeks ago, as a result of children bothering my child during class, my child was taken by the subject teacher K.K. to the vice principal F.A. and beaten. As a mother, when I went to meet with the school administration despite my child being subjected to violence, the school administration and some teachers tried to normalize this beating incident. They spoke in a way saying, 'What's the big deal, the teacher got angry and hit him once or twice. What is wrong with that, we also sometimes beat our children at home.'"
"HE BEAT HIM BY HITTING HIS KNEES AND HANDS WITH A STICK"
Finally, yesterday (November 21), my child was beaten by his Quran teacher M.H.B. in the classroom by being hit on his knees and hands with a stick. This was the last straw. I sent my child to an imam hatip school so he would receive religious and moral education; I did not send him to be beaten, bullied, or to learn profanity. Knowing how meticulous our President is regarding imam hatip schools, I respectfully request that the necessary actions be taken by our President regarding this matter.”
