Allegations of violence and sexual abuse in state dormitories: "Why did that child die?"

Saadet Party Group Chairman Selçuk Özdağ, speaking at a press conference in Parliament, claimed that while many names have been linked to allegations regarding state dormitories, not a single official has even been called to testify. He stated, "Many politicians have voiced these scandals and crimes in every venue, including from the podium of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), but unfortunately, the state and its institutions have not even put these issues on their agenda."

Stating that hundreds of news reports appear when searching the internet for incidents in state foster homes and 'love homes' (sevgi evleri), Özdağ provided several examples regarding allegations of violence and sexual abuse against children living in these dormitories that have been reflected in the public eye.

"WHY DID 3.5-YEAR-OLD ADNAN BERK DIE?"

Pointing out that some children staying in these dormitories have died, Özdağ asked, "Why did our 3.5-year-old child, Adnan Berk, who was entrusted to the state's children's home, die? Hospital records show the child suffered internal bleeding, but the cause of death was not written on the death certificate. Is there a specific reason for this? Why is there no autopsy report? Why is the family not being informed? If the state does not protect our children like this little one, who will?"
