Alleged drug shipment via baby stroller in Istanbul: 2 suspects arrested

In an investigation into drug trafficking in Istanbul, it was alleged that a baby stroller containing a two-year-old child was used during a shipment. As part of the efforts by the Istanbul Police Department's Narcotics Crimes Investigation Branch, Damla K. and Yıldırım K. were taken into custody.

According to police findings, Damla K. acted as if she were going about her daily life with her baby to avoid drawing attention during security checks and on cameras. It was determined that drugs ready for sale were being transported to delivery points via the baby stroller.

The investigation revealed that Damla K. used her home in Küçükçekmece as a "main stash" and had hidden the drugs she was to deliver to Yıldırım K. in the baby stroller prior to the operation. It was also noted that the suspects preferred areas not covered by security cameras as meeting points.

Narcotics teams waited without intervening during the delivery to ensure the child was not negatively affected. A simultaneous operation was launched after Damla K. moved away from the meeting point with the stroller and the suspects separated. Yıldırım K. was caught in a vehicle, while Damla K. was apprehended at a different location.

Searches conducted at the suspects' addresses and in the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 1 kilogram and 710 grams of cannabis and 410 grams of cocaine. It was stated that Yıldırım K. had placed the drugs in a "mechanized stash" compartment specially built into his vehicle.

Following their processing at the police station, Damla K. and Yıldırım K. were referred to the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, where they were arrested on charges of "Manufacturing and Trafficking of Narcotic or Stimulant Substances" and sent to prison.
