Also on trial for bribing a prosecutor: Burak Kızılhan used Fenerbahçe's name in a debt enforcement case

It has emerged that Fenerbahçe executive Burak Kızılhan, who is on trial for allegedly bribing a prosecutor dismissed from the profession due to the 'FETÖ stock market' scandal, used the club's name to defend himself in a debt enforcement case. Creditor Enis Özkan said of Kızılhan, 'He should apply the calls for honesty he makes to everyone else to his own commercial life as well.'

Fenerbahçe Sports Club General Secretary Burak Çağlan Kızılhan is on trial for allegedly bribing prosecutor Lütfi Kara, who was dismissed from the profession by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) on the grounds that he obtained benefits from the 'FETÖ Stock Market'.

According to a report by Can Bursalı from Gazete Duvar; experiencing negative developments in his commercial life, Kızılhan made an 'operation' deal with prosecutor Kara in exchange for 1 million dollars due to the non-payment of a check he had given to individuals described as loan sharks. The prosecutor, who changed his surname from Karabacak to Kara, carried out the operation but also made a deal with the leader of the group described as loan sharks for 250 thousand dollars and did not refer them for arrest. The lawsuit filed upon complaint is still ongoing.

HE COULD NOT PAY THE TEACHERS' SALARIES

The negativity in Kızılhan's commercial life is not limited to the bribery allegation involving the prosecutor. Kızılhan, who has been convicted in numerous lawsuits due to bounced checks, was also unable to pay the salaries of teachers working at his GEO College in 2020 and decided to close the school.

HE USED FENERBAHÇE'S NAME IN HIS OBJECTION

Kızılhan, who had an agreement with advertiser Enis Özkan for the school's promotional work, was unable to make this payment either. Özkan, who has not received payment since 2018, resorted to legal action. In the lawsuit filed by Özkan for his claim of nearly 2 million liras, emphasis was placed on Kızılhan's position as a Fenerbahçe Sports Club executive in the objection petition sent to the court.

In the response petition sent to the court by Kızılhan's lawyer regarding the payment that has not been made for 5 years, the name of Fenerbahçe Sports Club was used with the following expressions:

"While we reserve all our legal and criminal rights against the ugly expressions and accusations made by the plaintiff regarding the commercial ethics of the client company, we do not even feel the need to respond to this matter. Because Burak Çağlan Kızılhan, one of the officials of the defendant client company, is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Fenerbahçe Sports Club."

The objection made by Kızılhan through his lawyer, also using Fenerbahçe's name, resulted against him. Advertiser Özkan won the case, but when he could not collect his debt, he placed a lien on the school's license.

'HE BENEFITED FROM FENERBAHÇE'S RESPECTABILITY AND REPUTATION'

Speaking to Gazete Duvar about the commercial dispute he had with Kızılhan, Özkan stated that he was a victim and said the following:

"Burak Çağlan Kızılhan caused my company's victimization by using his position as a Member of the Board of Directors of Fenerbahçe Sports Club in the case file in the aforementioned trial and in his commercial relationship with my company, and by taking advantage of the respectability, reputation, and trust in Fenerbahçe Sports Club."

'HE SHOULD APPLY THE PRINCIPLES OF TRUTHFULNESS AND HONESTY TO HIS OWN COMMERCIAL LIFE'

Stating that he is also a Fenerbahçe fan, Özkan referred to the calls for honesty that Kızılhan makes to the Turkish Football Federation and rival teams, saying, "I advise him to apply the principles of truthfulness and honesty that he constantly makes for everyone else to his own commercial life as well."

Özkan also stated that he filed the lawsuit in 2018, won the case in the subsequent process, and that the appellate court upheld it, but that no payment was made because Kızılhan had no assets.
