Altaylı questions Erbaş's 'diploma': 'You attended FETÖ meetings'

Diyanet Affairs President Ali Erbaş, who accompanied President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his visit to Iraq, had a Rûdaw reporter's question in Arabic translated into Turkish. 

The issue became a trending topic on social media after it was revealed that Erbaş's biography on the official Diyanet website stated he had an advanced command of Arabic and French.

Most recently, journalist Fatih Altaylı wrote an article on the subject.

THEOLOGY DIPLOMA 

Altaylı's article on the matter is as follows: 

"In the Curriculum Vitae of this individual, who is required by his position to read and, of course, understand the Quran, Arabic was listed among the foreign languages he knows, alongside French.

Frankly, it never occurred to any of us that the Diyanet Affairs President might not know Arabic.

We thought, 'Since he was placed in that seat, he cannot be so ignorant as to not know it.'

We were wrong! He didn't know it. A journalist who thinks like us asked him a question in Arabic. The redundant occupant of the Diyanet Affairs presidential seat, after a blank stare, turned to the person next to him and asked for the question to be translated into Turkish. Then, he gave a terrible answer in terrible Turkish.

The Diyanet Affairs President did not know Arabic. This was a disgrace in itself, but what was even more disgraceful was that the man placed at the head of the country's highest religious institution had lied without shame or hesitation, having had something he did not know written on his CV as if he did. Like many things in the country, the Diyanet Affairs President was already acting as if he were the Diyanet Affairs President, and he was pretending to know Arabic. For a country where shame no longer exists, this was an extremely normal situation. The comb and the head were compatible. The point I am curious about is whether this individual actually holds a Theology Faculty diploma."

NOTES FOR ERBAŞ: Just in case, let me add some explanations for Ali Erbaş so he can understand if he reads this. 'Hal Tercümesi' means biography. 'Fuzuli' is used to mean redundant or unnecessary. 'Tercüme' means translation. I won't write what 'Curriculum Vitae' is. It is Latin; since you are well-versed in the subject of interfaith dialogue, I assume you are at least slightly familiar with Latin. Because you attended FETÖ meetings on this subject and wrote books. You have a familiarity with Latin.
