The newspaper Yeni Şafak, known for its proximity to the government, claimed in a report titled "Presidential candidacy debate reignites in CHP" that Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş had conveyed the message "I am a candidate under any circumstances" to the party leadership.

The report included the following statement: "The main agenda of the 1.5-hour meeting that CHP leader Özgür Özel held with Yavaş last week was also this declaration. It is stated that Yavaş gave assurances that he would not make an official announcement until the judicial process regarding İmamoğlu is clarified."

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality denied the report in question and issued a written statement.

The statement said, "Mr. Mansur Yavaş's priority and sole agenda is to serve the people of Ankara in the best and most uninterrupted way possible."

The full statement is as follows:

"The report in today's Yeni Şafak newspaper regarding the claims that 'Yavaş said I am a candidate under any circumstances' does not reflect the truth. The subject of candidacy was never brought up during the meeting held with CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel, nor during the meeting held with the mayors. Mr. Mansur Yavaş's priority and sole agenda is to serve the people of Ankara in the best and most uninterrupted way possible. Respectfully announced to the public."
