Another confessor changes testimony in the Aziz İhsan Aktaş case! 'I didn't see anything with my own eyes'

The second session of the trial, heard by the Istanbul 1st High Criminal Court at the Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution Campus in Silivri, has begun. Some of the defendants, including Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, and Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, for whom arrest warrants had been issued, were present at the hearing. Among those being tried without arrest were Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar and Aziz İhsan Aktaş.

The hearing was also followed by the families of the defendants as well as some political party officials and members. Intense security measures were implemented by gendarmerie teams in and around the courtroom.

The hearing began at 11:00 AM with identity checks. Speaking first, İSFALT General Manager Burak Korzay, who had previously testified twice by benefiting from the effective remorse law, stated regarding the person he had accused in his previous statements that he had "no definite personal knowledge" and denied the allegation that he had caused public loss in his defense.

Defendant Burak Korzay used the following expressions in his defense:

"I was accused of 3 crimes: obstructing the tender and the tender participation process, sharing confidential information, and causing public loss. During my tenure, no information was transferred to any company. Furthermore, it is claimed that I caused public loss; however, there is no public loss in the tables. I request my acquittal. I know Mustafa Mutlu and Aziz İhsan Aktaş; we would meet from time to time. Aktaş had received a tender in the period before me. It is normal for me as a general manager to be suspicious of some people, but I did not see anything with my own eyes."
