Another criminal complaint filed against Fatih Altaylı!

The Kayseri Voluntary Cultural Organizations Association has filed a criminal complaint with the public prosecutor's office against journalist Fatih Altaylı, alleging that he made insulting posts targeting those who participated in the 'Respect for Martyrs and Great Gaza Marches.'

"FATİH ALTAYLI USED PROFANE INSULTS"

Association President Ahmet Taş, who held a press conference in front of the Kayseri Courthouse, announced that they had filed the complaint, claiming that Fatih Altaylı had used profane insults. Speaking on behalf of the association, Taş stated:

Our country has been experiencing many difficulties for nearly two months, and it seems it will continue to do so. Since the Israeli genocide in Gaza and Palestine began on October 7, nearly 30 thousand people have lost their lives to date. Of these people, 8 thousand are children, around 7 thousand are women, and the rest are young men, the elderly, and the disabled. Furthermore, more than 60 thousand people have been injured. It is as if not a stone has been left standing in Gaza. While we were grieving for this, 12 of our soldiers were martyred in recent weeks as a result of PKK attacks in the Claw-Lock Operation Zone in Northern Iraq. Our nation, rightfully, has organized rallies in various parts of our country, performed funeral prayers in absentia, and gathered for morning prayers to both condemn terrorism and say 'no' to the genocide in Gaza. Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who could not stomach this well-intentioned stance that stands with the people and the oppressed, directed profane insults at our people who participated in these programs. For this reason, we, as representatives of the Kayseri Voluntary Cultural Organizations and affiliated associations, are filing a criminal complaint with the public prosecutor's office against Fatih Altaylı today. I hope that at the end of this criminal complaint, the necessary investigation will begin, a lawsuit will be filed against him, and whatever punishment he deserves will be given."

Lawyer Sena Özdemir claimed that crimes such as insult, degradation, and inciting the public to hatred and enmity were committed in Fatih Altaylı's comments.

"We have gathered here following a speech made by journalist Fatih Altaylı on a YouTube channel," said Özdemir, continuing her remarks:

"As we all know, the events in Palestine since October 7 have reached a critical level. In response to this situation, both people of conscience all over the world and our citizens in our country who wanted to react to this situation have tried to express their reactions through marches, meetings, and rallies on various dates. While one of these, the Ankara rally, was about to take place, we received the news of 12 martyrs. Upon this news of martyrdom, the rally in support of Palestine was expanded and organized as 'Commemorating our martyrs, condemning terrorism, and standing with Palestine against Israel.' In contrast, without considering the content of the rally or the slogans used, it was interpreted in various ways through Fatih Altaylı's statements as if the martyrs were being ignored. In these comments, crimes such as insult, degradation, and inciting the public to hatred and enmity were committed. That is why we came together, prepared the criminal complaint, and signed it."

Following the statements, the group submitted the criminal complaint to the public prosecutor's office.
