Another scandal from ÇEDES: Students covered in shrouds!
Under the pretext of the 'I Am Sensitive to My Environment, I Protect My Values' (ÇEDES) project, signed between the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, students at a school were covered in shrouds during a Palestine-themed event. In another school, a separate classroom was opened specifically for religious instruction.

The scandals surrounding the controversial ÇEDES program, which disregards secular and scientific education under the AKP government, show no signs of ending.
According to a report by Fırat Fıstık from Sözcü; at the Küçükköy Girls' Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, dozens of students participated in an event themed around supporting Palestine. During a theatrical performance, 5 students were laid on the floor and covered with white shrouds. At the ceremony, where young girls had their heads covered, some male students were dressed in military uniforms.
"THIS IS A PEDAGOGICAL CRIME"
TÖBSEN representative Serkan Bebek reacted to the situation and stated the following:
"We are faced with a situation where children are acting out the roles of deceased people and being covered with white shrouds in an event themed 'support for Palestine' that has nothing to do with any values. This is a pedagogical crime. Schools are under de facto occupation and a complete reactionary siege. Under the guise of religion, morality, or values education, a political Islamist ideology is being imposed on children.”
Palestine-related activities are not limited to this. An example of activities extending beyond school boundaries occurred at the Ulucan Middle School in Niksar, Tokat. Students set up a stand outside the school grounds to boycott Israel and support Palestine.
SEPARATE CLASSROOM FOR RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION
In Tekkeköy, Samsun, a practice previously unseen was implemented within the scope of ÇEDES. At the Gölceğiz Cumhuriyet Primary School, a Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge classroom was opened with the participation of District Director of National Education Mustafa Uzunlar, branch managers, and the ÇEDES district coordinator. This practice, which has not been implemented for any other subject, was applied for religious instruction.
