Appointments made to 12 provincial chairmanships in CHP: Gürsel Tekin question answered

The CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) met under the chairmanship of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Following the meeting held at the CHP Headquarters, CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı made statements regarding the MYK agenda. Sarı explained that they discussed forest fires, the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process, the national economy, and internal party issues on the MYK agenda. Sarı conveyed his best wishes to the citizens affected by the forest fires and thanked the workers and volunteers fighting the fires.

"As the CHP, we stand behind our report in the commission"

Stating that they also evaluated the issue of the legal framework regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process, Sarı said, "Since the draft has not yet come before us, we do not have much to say about the content of the draft. However, we want to put on record again that we are following the process and that this process is delayed. As the CHP, we stand behind our report in the commission. We also want to put on record that this issue should be discussed openly on transparent grounds within the parliament and that all kinds of support will be provided regarding this."

Appointments made for 12 provinces

Announcing that provincial chairmanship appointments have been made in 12 provinces, Sarı used the following expressions regarding these appointments:

"We have evaluated our friend Emin Kalyoncu as the provincial chairman for Amasya province. Ahmet Özdemir for Artvin province. For Balıkesir province, our friend Fikret Şahin, one of our previous term deputies, will take on this responsibility. Recep Mutlucan for Burdur, Ahmet Nejat Karaibrahim for Giresun province, Tuncay Yılmaz for Çorum province, Muhammed Baran Karahan for Kars, Uğur Alemdar for Kastamonu, Nihat Sargın for Kütahya province, Muhittin Bayrak for Rize, Mustafa Gültekin for Trabzon, and Olcay Can for Zonguldak. Thus, we have made an evaluation in 12 provinces. In the coming days, our evaluations will continue for other vacant provinces, and we will hold our provincial chairmen meeting perhaps next weekend or at the beginning of the following week. In August, the processes regarding the districts will also proceed."

Responding to questions from members of the press after his statement, Sarı said regarding the allegations that Gürsel Tekin was removed from his provincial chairmanship, "There was a discussion and an agenda item in the MYK regarding this issue. However, we will make a statement about this in the coming days."

"We will initiate a disciplinary process regarding our friends who are within the CHP but working for another political party"

Responding to the allegations that names in the Party Assembly (PM) such as Gül Çiftçi and Selin Sayek Böke would be referred to the High Disciplinary Board (YDK), Sarı stated, "If you are a member of a political party, you must act in accordance with the membership responsibilities of that political party. In other words, you cannot be within a political party and at the same time campaign for another political party or work in favor of that political party. This is, first and foremost, an ethical issue. But this issue has also been recorded with the disciplinary rules of the Republican People's Party. Therefore, we have brought this issue to the agenda. In the coming days, we will initiate a disciplinary process regarding our friends who are within the Republican People's Party and continue their existence as its members, but who work for another political party."

"The issue of making the Republican People's Party a counterparty is truly extremely ironic"

Regarding the words of New Party Chairman Özgür Özel in a television program he attended, "We are not going to take an administration appointed by a court decision as a counterparty in a positive or negative direction," Sarı said, "The issue of making the Republican People's Party a counterparty is truly extremely ironic. We listened to it as a great delusion that someone who has taken part in all of Turkey's political transformations, who is envied by the whole world and who is a counterparty to the whole world, and someone who has emerged from within this party, who was a part of this party's specific weight in the past but now does politics outside of this party, and who is even in the authorized bodies and boards of this party, does not take this party as a counterparty. They may not. They can make such an evaluation. But the specific weight of the Republican People's Party is obvious, it is clear, it is extremely net."
