Former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli was appointed as an independent board member of BİM in violation of the law, with 9 months still remaining in his mandatory waiting period.

According to the report by Gazete Pencere, it has emerged that former AKP Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli has become an independent board member at BİM.

APPROVAL ALSO RECEIVED FROM THE CMB

Pakdemirli, who applied for the independent board membership at BİM while there were still 9 months left until the end of his waiting period, also received approval from the Capital Markets Board (SPK).

THE RELEVANT ARTICLE OF THE LAW STATES THE FOLLOWING

The law regarding those who leave public office states: "Those who leave their positions for any reason whatsoever cannot, for a period of three years starting from the date of their departure, directly or indirectly take on duties or work, enter into commitments, or act as brokers or representatives in matters related to the duties and areas of activity of the department, administration, institution, or organization they served in during the two years prior to their departure date."
